Highland Scenes
Murdo's paintings of Highland scenes and customs have a particularly atmospheric quality. They exquisitely capture, on the one hand, the exuberance and vitality of dances and other social gatherings and, on the other hand the dignity and solemnity of Highland funerals and religious gatherings.
Many of Murdo's paintings are held in major private collections around the world, and their unique importance has been reflected by the National Library of Scotland acquiring a full set of prints for posterity.
